Join us for an Artist Yarn with Naomie, who will share stories about her Artist residency in Carnamah, the Ebb + Flow program, and how these events are interconnected.

Artist Naomie Hatherley has a diverse practice, and has recently been working closely with communities, creating deeply meaningful interactions with the environment.  Her residency, hosted by North Midlands Project (NMP) and the Carnamah Historical Society and Museum, invited artists to engage with the North Midlands community and heritage collections, in response to the curatorial theme Threads in Common.  Naomie worked with community, investigates her own project and will exhibit the outcomes.   Now we can hear more about it….

KAN’s Artist Yarns are a relaxed and conversational evening that shares local artists’ projects and production, or invites visiting artists to tell us about their work. Every Yarn is a bit different, but all are fascinating and friendly, with a small bar and some nibbles. It’s a great way to wind up the week.  Naomie is our hostess with the mostest, shepherding the conversation and reveling in details and questions that reveal the depth and diversity of the artists’ practice.This time, Naomie will be the subject of the Artist Yarn – turning the tables on herself!

Ebb + Flow is initiated by NMP and has been activated in various locations around the state. In Broome, it seems only natural to engage with the dramatic ebb and flow of our tides. Inspired by Broome’s tidal ecosystems, and our relationship with the world around us, Naomie’s gorgeous community mandalas and labyrinths are rich with meaning and cultural connections.  You may even have come down to the foreshore and got your feet dirty.
