Nagulagun is Yawuru saltwater country, and Roebuck Bay is a thriving marine ecosystem. You can meet some of its creatures on the Jetty during the festival!

Roebuck Bay is full of fish, birds, seasnakes, crabs, dugong and other creatures.  It’s a unique ecosystem right on the doorstep of Broometown, and as a community we engage with it all the time; fishing, swimming, walking and boating. The marine environment and our big tidesare key to our love of the town of Broome.

To celebrate this fabulous marine ecosystem, Rangelands NRM and KAN have been working with different schools and community groups to paint some of the species found in the water and on the shores of the Bay. Visit the Jetty any time during the Festival and you’ll find some crazy critters attached to the walkway, with information on that species and who has interpreted it for us.

Learn more Roebuck Bay and the marine ecosystem with Grace from Rangelands and Jaz from the Yawuru Rangers.  You can also paint a creature and add it to the rails.
