The Regional Arts Triennial is an exciting program of exhibitions and events across regional WA. Artists from the East Kimberley have created new artworks for the program, launching on 11 September, with the exhibition open from 12th to 19th of September
The theme of ‘Radical Futures’ connects all activities across the state, and you can see it here in the Kimberley; KAN, Waringarri Arts and Artopia Gallery in Kununurra have been collaborating to present an exhibition of artists. Curator Dora Griffith has been working with Jesse Ward and Cathy Cummins to craft an exhibition that digs into the Radical Futures theme, with the Kimberley title “We Walk Together”.

When thinking about ‘radical futures’ here in the Kimberley, Dora questioned what kind of world do we want our children and grandchildren to live in? A future that is deeply connected to country, respectful of diverse cultures in which we can walk together. It’s a radical return to a region in which different peoples meet with mutual understanding and a nurturing relationship to country. Rather than notions of conquering, it’s a notion of acceptance.

The Regional Arts Triennial 3: Radical Futures is funded by the WA Government. It is coordinated by Southern Forest Arts with support from ART ON THE MOVE through the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost. Project partners include John Curtin Gallery, Regional Arts WA, GalleriesWest and the Kimberley Arts Network.
